The round was a part of Coppa Paolino Teodori, itself an instalment of the Italian Mountain Racing Championships. As usual, two races were run, this time without weather interfering. However, the route was very demanding – slow at first and then getting gradually much faster. And the average slope rate of 7,55% wasn't exactly making things easier for the drivers, either. All in all, the route was 5031 m long and height difference between the strart and the finish was 380 m.
A total of 249 cars participated in race one, including the GHC ones (in the Alternative Energy category). Francesco De Iuliis came first, followed by Fabrizio Roncali Polo and Marco Ravinale. Ravinale had made an outstanding appearance at Verzegnis before and the third round served to confirm his abilities. A taste of things to come was clearly visible in the qualifying runs in Ascoli Piceno.
As for race two, Francesco De Iuliis took another victory, while his two runners-up, Fabrizio Roncali Polo and Marco Ravinale, switched places – the former came third and the latter second. Round four is scheduled to take place on August 20-21, 2016 – watch this space for results!
