After some technical problems with the car's turbocharger's pop-off valve, Basso and Dotta finished the first day of the 50th Friuli Venezia Giulia Rally, itself the 6th round of the Italian Rally Championships series, in third place. There was definitely room for improvement.
BRC Racing Team's technicians replaced the turbo in next to no time, so the LDI Fiesta was ready to take on the rivals on day two. Giandomenico Basso won the final three special stages, meaning he fought for second position overall with Umberto Scandola practically until the very end. It was not until the penultimate special stage that BRC Racing Team's driver managed to finally overtake Scandola, thus securing the overall second spot.
50th Rally Friuli Venezia Giulia final standings:
Before the two final rounds of the season left (Rally Adriatic and Rally Due Valli), there are only 3 points between the first and the third driver in the general standings, so there's going to be a lot of excitement. And the CIR (Campionato Italiano Rally – Italian Rally Championships) standings so far are as follows:
Rally Adriatic will be held on September 20-21, so await updates!
