Giandomenico Basso, three-time winner of Rally Sanremo, this year had to make do with the second spot overall. Paolo Andreucci took victory home, thus winning the rally for the third time in his career. Andreucci, along with co-driver Anna Andreussi, were out of reach this year, winning 7 stages out of 10.
Basso, driving a Ford Fiesta R5 LDI wearing BRC livery, failed to win any of the stages. Instead, he came in second or third on most of them, which finally allowed him to ultimately secure a good second position overall. Representatives of BRC Gas Equipment expressed their satisfaction with the result. As they said, the second place is the outcome of the team's perseverance and an encouragement to try even harder in the rallies to follow.
The final standings of Rally Sanremo prove again promoting LPG as motor fuel was the right thing to do for BRC. BRC Racing Team is the only such team in the world who uses a gaseous alternative fuel to demonstrate an LPG-powered rally car can be environment-friendly, economical, but also fast, reliable and perfectly safe.
BRC's other rally crew, driving a Suzuki Swift LPG with Giorgio Cogni behind the wheel, also made a good appearance at Sanremo, finishing 8th in the R1 class.
