The Trofeo Luigi Fagioli is a round of the Italian Mountain Racing Championships, this year also encompassing the Green Hybrid Cup, itself also a part of the Italian Alternative Energy Championships. Complicated? Maybe, but the goal is always the same – drive faster than the others and win at the end of the day. And that's what we're going to focus on.
The route was 4150 m long, with a height difference of 270 m and average slope of 6,5%. This year's edition of the Trofeo saw 258 drivers entering, including 7 Kia Vengas competing in the Green Hybrid Cup category.
The first run belonged to Francesco De Iuliis, who stopped the clock at 2'24.83, ahead of Nicola Gonnella and Fabrizio Roncalli. Pasqualino Amodeo finished the race just outside the podium. Spots five and six were taken by newcomers Pierluigi Calzuola and Lorenzo Fusari, while Marco Ravinale came last.
The second race proved just how well BRC Racing Team prepares the cars – winner Nicola Gonnella was just by 0,003 s faster than runner-up Francesco De Iuliis. Pasqualino Amodeo was third this time, ahead of Pierluigi Calzuola and Fabrizio Roncalli. Marco Ravinale managed to advance by one spot and the last one to cross the finish line this time was Lorenzo Fusari.
The next round, the Cronoscalata Monte Erice, is coming to Sicily on September 17-18.
