Terex FD5000 concrete mixer truck with front discharge is powered by a Cummins Westport ISX12 G gas engine with a displacement of 11.9 liters. There are three versions of engine available – 350, 385 and 400 PS.
Natural gas compressed to 20 MPa is stored in composite type IV tanks (plastic liner with carbon fiber braid saturated with resin) supplied by Hexagon Lincoln.
FD5000 is the first model available with a CNG system, but Terex points out that all front discharge concrete mixer trucks (from 3 to 7 axes) are also available with CNG engines.
Previous 9-liter engines available on the market didn’t provide the power or torque required for our customers and their applications. The 12-liter engines deliver the required performance and a substantial fuel cost savings benefit when compared to diesel engines.
