In the United Kingdom, autogas remains a fuel for fleets rather than individual motorists (pretty much like in the US) and so the majority of guests invited to the Clean Air Day were representatives of councils, businesses and service providers as they are more likely than the average driver to consider LPG as fuel for their vehicles. Even though diesel has been more expensive than petrol in Great Britain for years, it is still very popular, but thanks to events like this one (and growing environmental awareness), it may eventually fade away in favour of the world's most common alternative fuel.
Clean Air Day is a great way to raise awareness about air quality issues but the air quality problem requires a fundamental shift in attitudes and strategy in order to solve it in the long-term.
Councils are under extreme pressure to deliver immediate improvements and by inviting them to trial our range of LPG powered vehicles, they can see for themselves just how easy it is to make a dramatic improvement to their fleet emissions.

It is estimated that approximately 40 thousand Britons die prematurely each and every year due to poor air quality and autogas provides an easy an instant solution to the problem. True, it doesn't eradicate emissions completely, but reduces them significantly, especially as far as nitrous oxides and particulate matter – the most harmful components of exhaust gasses – are concerned. If taxis, delivery vans and other fleet vehicles used around cities could be replaced with LPG-powered ones, improvement in air quality would be remarkable and that's what hosts of the Clean Air Day aim to achieve. Cities like London, Birmingham and Edinburgh are already ditching their diesel-fueled black cabs with autogas-powered ones and Anglesey is introducing a fleet of 80 vans running on the cleaner fuel. And mind you, cleaner air isn't the only benefit – the Anglesey fleet cuts annual fuel spendings by some 100 thousand pounds. Beat that, diesel!
