GESPA, which is short for Gestión y Servicios de Paterna, serves a city of 70 thousand people. With a fleet of new LPG-powered cars cutting fuel spendings by 40%, the company looks to save in excess of 47 thousand euros over a four-year period. Obviously, the environment will benefit, too.
Along with the economic savings, we are also contributing to the improvement of air quality, especially in urban areas, as the new fleet of autogas vehicles reduces NOx (nitrogen oxides) emissions by up to 96%.
José Manuel Mora, Paterna City Council
Autogas is rapidly on the rise in Spain. Local fuel companies team up with car importers and manufacturers to promote the fuel and a lot is being done to improve the refueling infrastructure in the shortest time possible – if everything goes according to plan, there will be 1500 stations offering autogas by the year 2020. Spanish drivers are attracted to the world's most popular alternative fuel by savings and environmental credentials, but also freedom from limitations – in Madrid LPG-fueled vehicles can be driven regardless of air quality.
