Rally Monte Carlo is the customary opener of the WRC season. The 2017 edition will be the 85th in the event's long history. The route has been modified extensively compared to the 2016 edition (this year's course is 1411,85 km long, of which 382,65 km are special stages), but the historical Col de Turini special stage will be there as usual. The rally will be held between January 16 and 22.
Giandomenico Basso has participated in the World Rally Championships before, most recently in 2012 (also in Rally Monte Carlo). The Italian driver is a two-time European Champion (he won the titles in 2006 and 2009) and also a two-time Italian Champion (besides 2016 he also won the title back in 2007). Has Italy become too small for the ambitious pilot after his latest triumph and he's seeking to expand his game beyond his home country? We don't mind as long as he keeps his autogas-powered racer.
BRC Racing Team is the only non-factory team to win the Italian Rally Championship in the last 15 years. It is time we looked into the future, broadened our horizons and made a name for ourselves beyond Italy.
Mariano Costamagna, co-founder of BRC Gas Equipment
Rally Monte Carlo is an incredible event, by far the most important rally in the world, but also the most demanding and unpredictable one. It's a great honour for me to participate in it as reigning champion of Italy together with BRC – the company who has believed in me through all those years.
