The deal was signed by the chairman of the board of Liebherr-International AG, Dr. Willi Liebherr, and Sergey Kogogin – General Director of Kamaz. It implies cooperation in the development and production of gas engines (spark-ignition) and diesel engines that would meet the Euro 5 and later also Euro 6 requirements.
Liebherr is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction machinery. Since its foundation in 1949, it has grown into a group of companies, employing 35 thousand people in more than 130 companies on all continents.
Deputy General Director of Kamaz, Irek Gumierow, who was present when the deal was signed, stated that the production of a new generation of engines is necessary due to Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
As a confirmation of the cooperation between both companies, 3 Kamaz trucks talking part in this year’s Dakar Rally have been equipped with Liebherr engines.
