ACT Expo 2015 - alternative goes mainstream

The full name of the ACT Expo is Alternative Clean Transportation Expo, but quite frankly, if alternative fuels and propulsion technologies keep getting so much publicity, they're soon going to lose their "alternative" moniker and will just become regular parts of the mainstream energy mix. A number of major companies shared their alternative fuel fleet experience and explained why they decided to go the out-of-the-ordinary way even though conventional fuels are relatively cheap now.

Also, events such as this one go to show there is no single way to clean transport. The possibilities are many and fleets choose what best suits their needs to cut down emissions, but also reduce their fuel and maintenance costs. All the technologies available today (LPG, CNG, hybrids, EVs and others) were there at the ACT Expo, with more than 30 new products debuting on the show floor in Dallas. Among the premieres were:

• Ford's F-150 CNG/LPG pick-up,
• North American Repower's dedicated CNG truck,
• Greenkraft's G-series CNG or LPG truck,
• Landi Renzo USA's Electronic Pressure Regulator for CNG applications,
• Cummins Westport's new 6,7-litre natural gas engine,
• Worthington's new high-capacity composite CNG cylinder,
• Optimum Composite Technologies' new CNG tank.

Mark your calendar for May 2-5 and get a ticket that will get you to the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California.
