Freightliner S2G - puts itself to use

Freightliner's S2G LPG-powered truck has been proving popular among fleet operators, so the company decided to introduce additional variants of the vehicle to make it even more versatile. One of the new configurations is a box truck.

The S2G was first presented as a prototype in 2013 and entered full-scale production a year later, having garnered remarkable interest in the delivery segment. It was presented during the 2014 Work Truck Show, where the vehicle was presented in flatbed configuration, with a back-of-the-cab crane. Now the success continues with new variants and an example of the box truck has been lately delivered to RH Peterson Co., a California-based company making fireplaces and outdoor grills.

It offers us an outstanding combination of power, fuel efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and our drivers are very complimentary of the overall driving experience. They love the way the truck drives and handles. We’re excited about adding additional trucks to our fleet in the near future.

Dominique Seim, senior managing partner with RH Peterson

Just to remind you, the Freightliner S2G is powered by an 8 l V8 engine converted with a CleanFUEL USA autogas system. The unit generates 339 HP of at 4100 RPM and 671 Nm (495 lb/ft) of torque at 3100 RPM. The truck's GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) is 33 thousand pounds (14,85 tons) and the chassis comes with a three-year/50-thousand-mile (80-thousand-km) warranty, including emergency towing and roadside assistance. Now we're waiting for its competitors to show up!
